Trapped with Jester is a short horror-comedy otome visual novel by solo Filipino developer Anta (Antares252). Your head aches. Your memory is in shambles. You hear the clip-clop of a horse, feel the carriage shaking, and wake up to an unfamiliar face โ a grinning, chatty Jester who seems to know exactly what happened to you and refuses to explain it straight.
The whole game is under 1,000 words and can be finished in minutes, but it packs in 6 endings, original artwork, and a fully voiced Jester (Ethan Waldrep). It was made for the O2A2 (Only One of Any Asset) Visual Novel Jam 2022 โ a jam where you may only use one of each asset type โ and released on July 30, 2022. It has since racked up 3,888 ratings averaging 4.5/5 on itch.io and a 93% positive score on Steam.

๐ Jester
A demon of betrayal and nightmares wearing a humanoid disguise โ his design is based on the Hellequin figure of French folklore, and Anta first sketched him back in 2014. He talks constantly, toys with you, and wants one thing: your signature on a contract. According to Anta's lore book he can summon small hounds (extensions of himself) and has an older brother, Eliam.

A member of the royal family of the Qualian Monarchy (Qualia). The lore revealed across the endings: you were murdered by someone in your own family โ an easy target in a fight for the crown โ and you meet the Jester in the state between death and whatever comes next.
Shared universe: Trapped with Jester grew out of "Heartless," a cancelled otome project by Anta, and shares its world with the developer's later games. The Jester's contract is essentially a revenge deal โ reincarnation in exchange for going after whoever killed you.

There are 4 main endings and 2 alternate endings. Five of them can be reached on a fresh save. Ending 1 (the "true" romance ending) only becomes available after you have seen at least one other ending โ the extra choice unlocks on replay.
Ending 1 โ Our Vow: Until Death Do Us Part
Tell the stranger to be quiet โ ask what is going on โ respond with understanding โ agree to go along with it โ kiss him (unlocked after any other ending) โ hesitate at the word "Master." The Jester formally introduces himself as a demon in your service, returns your memories, and takes you off to raze the world together โ a vow breakable only by death.
Ending 1B โ My Master
Open on a positive note โ say you like him too โ admit you barely know him โ hesitate at "Master." The gentler variant of the vow ending.
Ending 2 โ A Blasphemous Partnership
Tell him to be quiet โ ask what is going on โ insist on an answer โ ask who he really is โ take his hand. You sign as equals โ or so you think.
Ending 3 โ An Obedient Pet
Open on a positive note โ say you like him โ agree to go along โ take his hand. You sign willingly, and the Jester keeps you.
Ending 3B โ An Unwilling Pet
Tell him to be quiet โ ask what is going on โ respond with understanding โ say you are confused. You never quite agree โ it does not matter.
Ending 4 โ You're Boring :(
Tell him to be quiet โ get angry. The fastest ending in the game. The Jester loses interest, and that is worse than it sounds.

Get Ending 4 first. It takes two clicks, unlocks the hidden kiss option, and lets you go straight for Ending 1 on your second run.

The jam's rule is "only one of any asset" โ one sprite, one background, one BGM, one SFX, one voice actor, and 1,000 words. Anta built the whole game in one week around that limitation and released it a day before the deadline. It became the breakout entry of the jam.
๐ Steam Release โ October 10, 2022
Publisher Neoclassic Games spotted the game during a Twitch stream and offered to bring it to Steam, where it launched with an Art & Lore Book DLC. Anta has since released a plush collaboration with Plush Wonderland (funded November 2025) and continues to update the itch.io page.
